How to care for your styled wig
Share
With a little extra care, a professionally styled wig can stay beautiful through conventions, photoshoots, and plenty of cosplay days. Here are some of our favorite tips for keeping your Cakycos wig looking fresh and ready for its next adventure.
Handle With a Little Extra Love
Spikes, curls, ahoges, and carefully shaped sections can be more delicate than they look!
When putting on or taking off your wig, try holding it from the inside of the wig cap rather than pulling on the styled areas. For heavily styled wigs, avoid brushing or combing through the finished sections unless they really need it.
The less you disturb the styling, the longer it can keep its original shape.
Give Your Wig a Proper Home
After a long cosplay day, your wig deserves a good rest too.
Place it back on a wig head or stand to help preserve its shape, and store it somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight, humidity, and heat.
Most importantly, don't let anything heavy sit on top of it. Even a little pressure over time can flatten curls, bangs, spikes, and other carefully styled details.
Traveling to a Convention?
We know the struggle: your costume fits perfectly into your suitcase... and then you look at your beautifully styled wig and wonder, "How am I supposed to pack this?!"
Styled wigs are especially vulnerable while traveling. Tossing one into a suitcase or soft bag can quickly turn hours of careful styling into flattened spikes, tangled curls, and a very stressful hotel-room repair session.
That's why we recommend giving your wig its own protected space when you travel.
Our Premium Cosplay Styled Wig Travel Case & Storage Box helps protect your wig from being crushed or tangled while you're on the go. It's a simple way to bring your styled wig to conventions, photoshoots, and cosplay trips with a little more peace of mind.

Water & Heat? Proceed With Care!
A little rain might not bother you, but your styled wig may disagree.
Water can loosen hairspray, glue, curls, and other styling work, so try to keep your wig dry whenever possible.
Need to make a quick heat touch-up? Always make sure the wig fiber is heat-resistant first, and start with a low temperature. When in doubt, less heat is better!
After the Cosplay Comes Off...
Before putting your wig away, give it a quick check.
Look for tangles, loose pieces, or areas that might need a small touch-up before your next wear. For long wigs, gently detangle from the ends and slowly work your way upward.
Try to leave intentionally styled or product-set sections alone so they can keep their shape.
Don't Over-Restyle It
A styled cosplay wig is a little different from everyday hair. You don't need to brush it every time you wear it!
In fact, constantly brushing, combing, or reshaping it can shorten the life of the original styling. Preserve as much of the original shape as you can and only touch up the areas that actually need attention.
A Little Care Goes a Long Way!
Your wig is part of what brings your favorite character to life. Whether it's an elaborate spiky style, dreamy curls, or the perfect character bangs, taking a few extra minutes to handle, store, and transport it properly can make a big difference.
Treat your wig with a little love, give it a safe place to rest, and it'll be ready to transform with you again for your next cosplay adventure. :)
